ONEIDA COUNTY- A woman from the North Country was taken to an area hospital in the wake of a motor vehicle accident Tuesday in Oneida County, authorities say.

The incident involved two vehicles and occurred shortly after 4:00 p.m. at the corner of Reber and Blackmans Corners Roads, town of Verona.

According to investigation via the Sheriff’s Office, April Roggie, 23, of Carthage, NY was driving a 2019 Subaru. At the intersection with Reber Road, police said she was struck by an oncoming 2014 Jeep SUV, reportedly driven by Kyle Ingram, 29, of Vernon, NY.

Both vehicles sustained extensive damage in the crash, police said.

Roggie was taken to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital for abdominal and shoulder pain. No specific injuries were mentioned.

Meanwhile, Ingram was released after evaluation on-scene. Deputies have determined that Ingram failed to stop at a stop sign while entering the intersection, causing the collision to occur.

With that being said, Ingram told police he did not see the sign and was unable to slow up in-time, due to faulty brakes.

He was issued citations for unlicensed operator, failure to stop at a stop sign, and inadequate brakes.

Verona Fire Department, Vineall Ambulance, the New York State Park Police, and Rocker's Automotive and Towing all assisted.
