LOWVILLE- There are quite a few contested races throughout Lewis County for the November General Election this fall, but there are also numerous positions that will not have any candidates on the ballot when it comes time to vote.
According to the Board of Elections Office in Lowville, NY, there are 12 total positions, including both town and village governments, where there will be no candidates on the ballot.
This includes: Town Supervisor for Lyonsdale, Montague and Osceola; Town Clerk for Harrisburg, Lewis, Lyonsdale and Montague; Highway Superintendent for Town of Leyden; Tax Collector for Martinsburg; Town of New Bremen Town Council (one seat) and two seats for Village Trustee in Port Leyden.

With that being said, BOE officials clarify the only way a person could be elected is through write-in only.
If for any reason there are no write-ins is on Election Day (or there is a tie vote), it will be certified to the Town as “A Failure to Elect.”
The General Election is aimed for Tuesday, November 7.
