LEWIS COUNTY: FLOOD WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 330 PM EDT THIS AFTERNOON.

* WHAT...River flooding along the Beaver River caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...A portion of central New York, including the following county, Lewis.

* WHEN...Until 330 PM EDT Tuesday.

* IMPACTS...High water will continue along the Beaver River today, with minor flooding possible along the Beaver River in Croghan, Beaver Falls, and downstream to the confluence of the Black River.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...At 328 AM EDT, 2 to 4 inches of rain fell on Monday, with the highest rainfall amounts near the headwaters of the Beaver River. The automated gauge on the Beaver River at Croghan is at 5.0 feet and rising at 330 AM EDT. The river will likely continue to rise through this morning.

- Flooding impacts will continue, but no additional rainfall is expected.
- Some locations that will experience minor flooding include...Locations along the Beaver River in Croghan, Beaver Falls, and downstream to the confluence with the Black River.

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.

Keep children away from storm drains, culverts, creeks and streams. Water levels can rise rapidly and sweep children away.

Flooding is occurring or is imminent. It is important to know where you are relative to streams, rivers, or creeks which can become killers in heavy rains. Campers and hikers should avoid streams or creeks.
