NWS: High Wind Warning for Tug Hill region takes effect Thursday evening; Wind Advisories will take effect for the rest of the listening area

TUG HILL PLATEAU (Jefferson & Lewis Counties)- HIGH WIND WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 7 P.M. THURSDAY EVENING TO 1 A.M. EST SATURDAY.
* WHAT...Southeast winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 60 mph expected tonight. Southwest winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts to 50 mph then expected Friday and Friday night.
* WHERE...Jefferson and Lewis Counties. The strongest wind gusts will likely be found on the northern slopes of the Tug Hill Plateau and Black River Valley tonight. Strong gusts will be for the entire North Country region Friday and Friday night.
* WHEN...From 7 P.M. Thursday evening to 1 A.M. EST Saturday.
* IMPACTS...Strong winds will blow down trees and power lines. Scattered power outages are expected. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Strong winds will blow around unsecured outdoor holiday decorations.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...Avoid being outside in forested areas and around trees. If possible, remain in the lower levels of your home during the windstorm, and avoid windows. Use caution if you must drive.
CENTRAL NEW YORK & ONEIDA COUNTY- WIND ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 7 P.M. THURSDAY EVENING TO 1 A.M. EST SATURDAY.
* WHAT...Southwest winds 15 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph expected tonight into early Friday. Westerly winds of 15 to 25mph with gusts up to 50mph expected Friday morning through late Friday evening.
* WHERE...Portions of central New York and northeast Pennsylvania.
* WHEN...From 7 P.M. Thursday evening to 1 A.M. EST Saturday.
* IMPACTS...Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and scattered power outages may result.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Highest winds tonight into Friday morning are expected over hill and ridge tops in NEPA and the Catskills as well as the Finger Lakes through the higher terrain south of I-90 in NY. Widespread strong wind gusts are expected late Friday morning through Friday evening as westerly winds push cold air into the area behind the departing cold front.

* WHAT...South to southwest winds 15 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph expected for tonight into early Friday and westerly winds 15 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph expected for late Friday morning through late Friday evening.
* WHERE...Portions of northwestern Connecticut, western Massachusetts, eastern New York, and southern Vermont.
* WHEN...From 7 P.M. Thursday evening to 1 A.M. EST Saturday.
* IMPACTS...Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and some power outages may result.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The highest winds gusts within the south to southwesterly flow tonight into early Friday morning will be across the higher elevations of the southern Greens of Vermont, Berkshires of Massachusetts, eastern Catskills and Taconics of eastern New York and the Litchfield Hills of northwest Connecticut. All areas will see widespread strong gusty winds very late Friday morning through late Friday evening.
