251 people were arrested for drunken and/or impaired driving during this year’s New York State Police Thanksgiving week crackdown.
That number rings-in compared to 178 drunken driving arrests made during last-year’s campaign. Overall, law enforcement officers issued nearly 25,000 tickets statewide during this year’s crackdown, which is another increase when compared to nearly 19,000 last-year.
Out of 1,259 investigated crashes during the enforcement blitz, there were three that resulted in fatalities.
In our North Country Troop D Region, 26 people were busted for drunken driving; 368 were ticketed for speeding; 39 were cited for distracted driving; 74 were cited for seatbelt violations and 4 drivers were ticketed for failing to ‘move over.’
The campaign ran from November 23 through December 1.
