OCSO: Collision between Subaru and motorcycle results in fatality in town of Western

WESTERN- One fatality has been confirmed in the wake a collision between a motorcycle and a vehicle over the weekend in Oneida County.

It was right around 1:00 p.m. Sunday when emergency responders were dispatched to the Stokes – Westernville Road for a collision between a 2004 Suzuki motorcycle and a 2024 Subaru Outlook.

According to investigation via the Sheriff’s Office, Rick Reed, 69, of Rome, NY was operating the motorcycle and was heading east. Meanwhile, Carol Anderson, 74, and her husband, Clifford, 82, both of Florida, approached the intersection with Stokes –Westernville Road from Hilltop Road.

While attempting to turn onto Stokes – Westernville Road, police say that Anderson pulled out in-front of Reed, resulting in a crash.

Reed was subsequently ejected from his motorcycle. AmCare Ambulance rushed Reed to Rome Memorial Hospital, where he was officially pronounced deceased.

Meanwhile, both Carol and Clifford were taken to Rome Memorial Hospital for what authorities described as minor injuries.

As of this report, the crash remains under investigation. Members from the New York State Police, Westernville Fire Department and North Country Towing all assisted.
