ON-AIR SEGMENT: Boonville Mayor Judith Dellerba talks ongoing project to install three-color traffic light at State Route 12 and Main Street intersection

BOONVILLE- Construction is officially underway to install a three-color traffic light at the intersection of State Route 12 and Main Street.

For now, crews will be focusing on placing all the necessary underground wiring and traffic delays should be minimal, says Mayor, Judith Dellerba.

The intersection is locally known for accidents, and the Mayor says the goal of this new traffic light is to help mitigate that.

"If you want to go north when you get to that corner, you pull up and stop opposite of Moose River Road and that blocks the vision of the person who wants to go south," the Mayor told us.

"People can get impatient pulling off Moose River Road and there's been no casualties, thank God, but there's been many accidents there because of that."

In terms of when the traffic light will be installed and fully operational, the Mayor says she has been told that it should be sometime before the mid-end of winter.
