On Friday, June 27, 2025, local agriculture figure, Ben Simons, joined North Country News and gave his latest insight pertaining to how this spring's planting season went and the crop outlook for this summer's growing season.

Based on various intel from farmers around the Central and Northern New York area, Mr. Simons is confident that things are 3-weeks behind for when it comes to where they should be for this time of year.

He attributes this lag from a cold, wet spring. Last-year, you likely remember how things were about three-weeks ahead as we entered fair season.
