One fatality confirmed in Tuesday night collision in Herkimer County

NEWPORT- Tuesday night’s collision in Herkimer County has resulted in one fatality, emergency responders confirm.

It happened shortly after 9:15 p.m. on the Butler Road, town of Newport.

Though an investigation remains ongoing, Troopers say that Jordan F. Doxtader, 32, of Newport, NY was heading east in a 2011 Chevy Silverado. While navigating a curve, investigators say that Doxtader crossed into the oncoming lane and smashed into a 2024 Ford Transit Connect head-on.

The driver of the Ford, identified as Rodney K. Dodge, 59, of Utica, NY, was pronounced deceased by emergency responders on-scene. A passenger in the ford, Dale R. Dodge, 27, of Utica, NY was taken to Wynn Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Meanwhile, Doxtader was flown to SUNY Upstate Medical Center with what authorities described as non-life threatening injuries.

Members of Newport Fire Department, mercy Flight and Kuyahoora Valley Ambulance all assisted.
