ONEIDA COUNTY- Police say a local jail inmate is accused of making over 150 phone calls to a protected party.
Officials from the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office say that David J. Murphy, 36, of Clinton, NY had violated an active stay away protection order that was issued from a previous domestic incident.
It is alleged that Murphy, who was being held at the county jail on other charges, made over 150 phone calls to the protected party, which police say is a direct violation of the protection order.
Murphy was formally charged with one felony count of an aggravated family offense and misdemeanor of criminal contempt in the second-degree for the numerous phone calls.
Murphy was arrested and processed on these charges and was instructed to cease the contact, or face further charges.
Murphy was returned to the Oneida County Jail to await arraignment on the new charges, but minutes after the arrest, police said that Murphy called the protected party once again.
Murphy was then charged with another count of Criminal Contempt 2nd and Aggravated Family Offense.
