Ongoing meth investigations result in arrest, charges filed against five Lewis County residents

LEWIS COUNTY, NY- Five North Country people are all faced with various drug related accusations, stemming from ongoing meth investigations.

On Wednesday, the Lewis County Drug Task Force announced the arrest of Lucas W. Dafoe, 32, of Port Leyden, NY for criminal sale and possession of a controlled substance in the third-degree, along with criminal sale and possession of a controlled substance in the fifth-degree.

In addition, Paul D. Dafoe Jr., 20, of Port Leyden, NY was charged exactly with the same.

Ashley Galarneau, 31, of Port Leyden, NY was formally charged with counts of criminal sale and possession of a controlled substance in the fifth-degree.

Tyler J. Moroughan, 29, of Lowville, NY is officially charged with two counts each of criminal sale and possession of a controlled substance in the third-degree.

Travis B. Weber, 38, of Port Leyden, NY is officially charged with two counts each of criminal sale and possession of a controlled substance in the fifth-degree. Furthermore, police allege that Weber possessed a small amount of meth and a set of brass knuckles when he was arrested, thus resulting in additional charges of criminally possessing a weapon in the third-degree and criminally possessing a controlled substance in the seventh-degree.

The task force was assisted via the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office and the New York State Police.

All five suspects appeared before Lewis County Court Judge, Daniel King, for arraignment. However, under current standards of New York Bail Reform, Judge King had no other option but to release all five suspects – pending further court action.

The arrests were executed via sealed indictments, which were all opened by the Honorable Daniel King.
