MARTINSBURG & WEST TURIN- Emergency responders were on the scenes of two snowmobile accidents over the weekend in Lewis County.

On Sunday, the Sheriff’s Office investigated a snowmobile accident in the town of Martinsburg, which involved a teenage pedestrian.

Authorities say Ashely R. Welch, 39, of New Berlin, NY was operating a 2018 Ski-Doo sled. Somehow, Welch lost control and struck a 16-year-old juvenile, along with another parked snowmobile.

Both Welch and the juvenile received treatment on-scene before being taken to Samaritan Medical Center for additional treatment.

Emergency officials described their injuries as non-life threatening. Members from Search & Rescue and Martinsburg Fire Department assisted.

Meanwhile, emergency responders tended the scene of another snowmobile accident on Saturday, which involved a pair of teenagers in the town of West Turin.

Fortunately, there were no injuries.

Investigators say two juveniles were riding with their guardians on separate sleds and heading in opposite directions on Trail C4C. While negotiating a curve, the sleds met, their skis locked and collided.

One of the snowmobiles did not have insurance, which resulted in a uniform traffic ticket being issued to one of the guardians, who was not identified at press time.

No further details were made available.
