
LOWVILLE- The American Red Cross is assisting a local family in Lewis County following a blaze that destroyed a trailer residence on Friday afternoon.
Alarms sounded shortly after 4:15 p.m., as New Bremen was the primary fire department that responded to 7438 Ossant Road, Lowville, NY.
Neighbors told dispatchers that they could see smoke and flames. By the time firefighters arrived, the home was completely consumed by the blaze.
Unfortunately, there were three family dogs that did not make it out. The home, owned by Danny Gudridge, is a total loss and the Red Cross has been contacted to assist.
No other injuries were reported.
Emergency Management officials say the cause of the fire is still undetermined and remains under investigation.
Croghan Fire Department provided mutual aid. Members from Search & Rescue, State Police, Sheriff’s Office, Cause & Origin Team and County Probation all assisted.
