LOWVILLE- Several backpacks are set to be given away Saturday, August 15 during the annual Back to School Block Party.
The event will be held at the Lewis County Memorial VFW (West State Street) from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
With the assistance thanks to the Black River Valley Business and Community Alliance, the goal is to give away 240 backpacks, according to committee officials.
These backpacks are filled with basic and essential school supplies. Remember, in order to receive a back pack, your child must be present during the event.
There will be local vendors and food available.
Thanks to an initiative sparked by Joshua Fitzgerald several years ago, the event has grown tremendously in size and has even expanded across county lines.
The organization is also preparing for a similar event coming up Saturday, August 29 at the Boonville-Oneida County Fairgrounds from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Stay tuned for more details.
