LOWVILLE- The murder trial of Jacob Vanbergen is aimed to commence next week and Lewis County officials are seeking to hire a lawyer out of Oneida County to help ensure there is no overload of other casework.
This update is according to the latest from WWNY-TV.
Vanbergen, who is from the state of Pennsylvania, will be on trial because he is accused of strangling a man at the Ridge View Lodge a year ago.
It’s reported that the county currently has an unfilled assistant DA position. District Attorney Jeffery Tompkins told reporters that his office “didn’t want to find ourselves in a position where the office is completely tied up with a two-week trial and no one is able to cover other events and occurrences.”
Lewis County legislators were aimed to vote on Tuesday on the approval of hiring Angelo Partipelo, of Rome, NY, to assist with the upcoming trial.
