LOWVILLE- The man who was set to have a second trial for the death of two women in a fire nearly six-years ago will be going back to prison.

Shawn Exford, 34, was originally convicted for murder and arson in 2022.

A jury found him responsible for setting a blaze towards the end of 2019 that claimed the lives of Saratina Kilbourne, 42, and Catherine Crego, 58, however; the New York State Appellate Court overturned the original conviction earlier this year on a technicality.

A new trial was ordered for back in March, but Exford took a plea deal instead to a pair of manslaughter charges, a move that took life in prison out of the picture.

According to the latest reports from WWNY-TV, Exford will now serve 25-years behind bars, which includes the time he’s already spent up to present day.

Upon release, he will undergo five-years of supervision.
