PORT LEYDEN- There’s been an update that has surfaced regarding one of two villages under investigation in Southern Lewis County.

Late Thursday afternoon, WWNY-TV reported that a former Superintendent for Port Leyden DPW is now charged with falsifying business records.

Mayor Shawn Smith told reporters that Jeremy Rogers was charged Thursday with 10 misdemeanor counts of falsifying business records.

Rogers, who was the head of Port Leyden’s DPW, resigned resulting from a DEC investigation, where authorities were looking into whether or not actual readings in terms of sewer records were kept at the village wastewater treatment plant.

Lyons Falls is the other village under investigation for something similar, according to Mayor Donna Dolhof.
