REPORT: Jefferson, Lewis, and St. Lawrence Counties Central Trades and Labor Council endorses Turck for Lewis County Sheriff

ST. LAWRENCE COUNTY- The Jefferson, Lewis, and St. Lawrence Counties Central Trades and Labor Council is endorsing Nichole Turck, candidate for Lewis County Sheriff.

The council hosted candidates running for Sheriff for both Lewis and St. Lawrence Counties Wednesday night. The event took place in Gouverneur, NY.

This development is according to the latest from WWNY-TV.

Each candidate present had seven-minutes to showcase their platform.

When asked about sales of AR-15 rifles, Carpinelli, incumbent Lewis County Sheriff, told reporters “I believe in the Second Amendment 100% that a person has the right to defend themselves,” adding “But I also believe in law and order.”

The Sheriff was thanked for his continued support for men and women serving in law enforcement.

Meanwhile, Carpinelli’s challenger, Nichole Turck, a retired New York State Trooper, was asked how she would improve the Sheriff’s Office. “I want to find every resource possible that I can to utilize in the training aspect of things,” she said, “and also in cooperation with other agencies.”

New York's Primary Election will be held Tuesday, June 27, 2023.
