ROME- City Mayor Jeffrey Lanigan has been served with a protection order against him following a scuffle with former Mayor Jim Brown last month.
According to the latest reports from WKTV, Mayor Lanigan made an appearance in Rome City Court Wednesday morning, where he was arraigned and pleaded not guilty to a harassment charge.
As previously reported, the two were involved in an altercation in June at an area golf country club.
Since the charge is a violation, a maximum sentence would be 15-days in jail or a $250 fine, if Lanigan is convicted.
According to reports, it will be a bench trial instead of a jury, due to the nature of the charges.
