ONEIDA COUNTY- Several residents from the Trenton area gathered Monday evening for the latest public hearing over a proposed Dollar General Market in Barneveld, NY.

According to the latest reports from WKTV, the location, if approved, would be the former Adirondack Lanes and Diner along State Route 12.

There were numerous residents who attended and voiced their input towards planning board officials. In addition, representatives from the Broadway Group, a development company hired by Dollar General, were present during the hearing to address any comments or concerns.

It’s reported that many of the residents in attendance spoke against the proposition, primarily citing how there are several establishments that are similar within the area as it is.

For example, there is a Dollar General up the road in Remsen, NY and another one in Boonville, NY, in addition to several other already established local businesses.

A decision is expected from the planning board within the coming months.
