
ROME- 8 animals – a mix of both dogs and cats – were rescued over the weekend from a house fire, thanks to the response of city firefighters.
 
It happened during the night on Saturday at 307 Sam Street, according to dispatchers.
 Rome Fire Department told reporters from WKTV that it happened shortly after 10:00 p.m.
A two family residence had caught fire, with heavy flames visible from the side. A resident told emergency responders that there were several dogs and cats still inside.
Without hesitation, firefighters worked quickly and managed to save all 8 pets from the burning home. All of them survived.
As of this report, the Red Cross is assisting those displaced by the fire.
For now, fire investigators say this blaze was accidental in nature and sparked somehow outside the home.
