LOWVILLE- Lewis County Sheriff Michael Carpinelli is announcing that an “illegal alien” has been taken into custody.

This apprehension was executed by the Sheriff’s Office, with the assistance of U.S. Border Patrol and the New York State Police.

In a social media post Wednesday evening, Sheriff Carpinelli declared that this illegal alien in question has already been deported once before and “chose to return again illegally.”

“He was apprehended on a warrant and is also being investigated for other alleged sexual crimes,” the Sheriff explained in his statement.

In the Sheriff’s released statement to social media, he goes on to allege that a county employee “felt it was necessary to video record the incident.”

The Sheriff says this county employee is apparently an interpreter. Sheriff Carpinelli went as far to accuse this county employee of attempting to “interfere or intimidate law enforcement.”

“That will NOT work in Lewis County,” the Sheriff concluded in his statement.

We plan on touching base with the Sheriff as soon as possible for additional context. We also plan on reaching out to the county government office.

As of this report, we have not witnessed or received a copy of this apparent video recording in question.
