ONEIDA COUNTY- Six corrections officers are faced with murder charges in connection to the death of Robert Brooks, the inmate at Marcy Correctional Facility, who was fatally beaten towards the end of last-year.

Meanwhile, there are others charged in the incident, as WKTV reports there were various individuals involved, who appeared in Oneida County Court on Thursday.

Corrections officers Nicholas Anzalone, David Kingsley, Anthony Farina, Christopher Walrath and Mathew Galliher are all charged with second-degree murder, while the sixth person remains unidentified, for now, until they appear in court next-week, according to the Associated Press.

In addition, Sergeant Michael Mashaw and corrections officers David Walters and Michael Fisher are all charged with manslaughter.

Nicholas Gentile is also charged for tampering with evidence.

Onondaga County District Attorney William Fitzpatrick took over the case after state Attorney General Letitia James recused herself, citing her office’s representation of several implicated officers in separate civil lawsuits.
