INLET- A snowmobile went through the ice on a local lake in the Western Adirondacks over the weekend, authorities say.

It was shortly before 7:30 p.m. Saturday when emergency services were alerted to reports of a snowmobiler through the ice on Fourth Lake.

It happened near Inlet, NY, the Town of Webb Police said.

According to Police Chief Ron Johnston, Daniel Tremont (no age provided), of Selkirk, NY was operating his 2017 Ski-Doo sled towards Arrowhead Park and encountered a patch of thin ice.

He and the sled went through and became submerged. Fortunately, Tremont was able to escape and walk to a nearby restaurant for help.

He reportedly refused medical attention.

The sled was eventually removed by the owner.

No additional details were available.
