Snowmobiler flown to Syracuse hospital after accident with motor vehicle in Lewis County

Snowmobile Accident

TURIN- Serious physical injuries were reported in the immediate aftermath of an accident Sunday evening involving a snowmobile and a motor vehicle in Lewis County.

It happened sometime shortly after 7:30 p.m. at the intersection of State Route 12 and Burdicks Crossing Road.

The Sheriff’s Office handled this investigation, and so far, officials say there was an accident involving a snowmobile and a motor vehicle.

Specific details describing how the wreck occurred were not iterated by police, however; the snowmobiler, Chad Ammon, 46, of Gap, PA suffered serious injuries and was flown to SUNY Upstate Medical Center.

At press time, police said Ammon’s condition was stable. The driver of the vehicle was not injured.

The investigation remains ongoing.

Members from the New York State Police, Lewis County Search & Rescue, Turin Fire Department and Turck’s Towing all assisted.
