Sole occupant deceased in fatal accident identified as someone local from Herkimer County

ONEIDA COUNTY- The driver who was killed after going off the roadway Sunday morning has been identified as someone local.

It happened shortly after 8:00 a.m. on State Route 69 in the town of Annsville, the Sheriff’s Office said.

According to investigators and updates released as of Monday afternoon, Russell True, 17, of Newport, NY was heading west in a black colored Ford F-150.

True somehow crossed over the eastbound lane, went off the road and into a ditch before striking a culvert and several trees.

True was pronounced deceased at the scene.

At press time, the Sheriff’s Office said an investigation remains ongoing.

Members from the State Police, Taberg Fire Department, AmCare Ambulance, New York State DOT and Onondaga County Medical Examiner’s Office all assisted.
