ROME- Though a few details are still developing, Mayor Jeff Lanigan is faced with a harassment accusation that reportedly stems from a scuffle he had earlier this month at a local golf club with former mayor, Jim Brown.
This development has surfaced from WKTV.
According to what former Mayor Brown told reporters, Lanigan allegedly body-slammed him into a car and caused his arm to bleed.
Reports suggest that an Oswego County Judge signed a criminal summons on Wednesday, while the Oneida County Sheriff's Office served him with the summons on Thursday.
The charge is a violation of harassment and it is reported that Lanigan would still be eligible to serve as mayor, despite any potential convictions or pleas.
A court date has been scheduled for later on in July, where the case could possibly be resolved or motions for a trial date could also be set.
