ALBANY, NY- State Assemblyman Robert Smullen (R,C – Mohawk Valley and the Adirondacks) is pleased to see the ‘Direct-to-Consumer’ Shipping Bill, a measure of which he co-sponsored, signed into law this week.
“Simplifying the process for smaller producers to be able to deliver products to a wide range of consumers statewide and beyond will carry significant benefits for our state,” the Assemblyman said.
This bill, according to Smullen, will allow New York state’s small craft manufacturers of spirits, cider and mead to ship directly to consumers both in and out of state.
“This legislation provides our distilleries and cideries with tremendous opportunity for growth that will have a ripple effect on our economy,” said New York Ag Commissioner Richard A. Ball.
According to the Governor's Office, the newly signed law opens significant opportunities for the state’s growing craft beverage industry by providing a vital market expansion tool—allowing these producers to ship their unique products directly to consumers within New York and across state lines.
The new law takes full effect in 90 days.
