
Nearly 13,000 tickets were issued across New York during the State Police Fourth of July Holiday enforcement blitz.
The special enforcement started last Friday and wrapped up Wednesday.
Overall, Troopers arrested and charged 193 people for DWI. Furthermore, authorities investigated nearly 950 crashes, 158 of them resulting in some sort of personal injuries.
There were 5 fatalities, Troopers added.
Over 4,600 drivers were pulled-over and ticketed for speeding, while another 322 received citations for distracted driving.
Over 1,000 drivers were also caught not wearing their seatbelts and another 162 for failing to move over.
Locally in our Troop D region, 524 were caught speeding; 23 were arrested for intoxicated driving; 39 ticketed for distracted driving; 165 people caught not wearing a seatbelt and 9 drivers who failed to move over.
During last year’s Fourth of July enforcement campaign, which ran from Friday, July 1, 2022, through Tuesday, July 5, 2022, one day less than this year’s campaign, the State Police issued 12,160 total tickets and arrested 197 people for DWI.
