Three Rome area establishments busted for illegal cannabis sales
ROME- Three city businesses have been busted recently by authorities for illegal cannabis sales.
This announcement comes from a joint release from Rome City Police and the Oneida County District Attorney’s Office.
Investigators executed search warrants on March 24 at these following locations:
Brooklyn Exotics, located at 401 Black River Boulevard, was found to be selling illegal cannabis products and illegal flavored nicotine vape products. Quantities of cannabis flower, cannabis concentrate in various forms, and approximately 2,937 flavored nicotine vapes were seized from the location. The clerk, 20-year-old, Nathaniel A. Doyle of Rome was charged by the Rome Police Special Investigations Unit with Unlicensed Cannabis Sale, a class A-Misdemeanor. As a result, the Office of Cannabis Management shut down the store pending an administrative hearing. Subsequent fines will be issued by the Oneida County Department of Health in regards to the nicotine flavored vaping products secured from the location.
Prince Convenience, located at 8601 Turin Road, was found to be selling illegal cannabis products and illegal flavored nicotine vape products. Quantities of cannabis flower, cannabis concentrate in various forms, and approximately 1,310 flavored nicotine vapes were seized from the location. A store clerk, 21-year-old, Christian J. Wojdyla-Lerch, of Lee interfered with the execution of the search warrant and was charged by the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office with Obstructing Governmental Administration in the 2nd degree and Resisting Arrest, both class A- Misdemeanors. As a result, the Office of Cannabis Management shut down the store pending an administrative hearing. Subsequent fines will be issued by the Oneida County Department of Health in regards to the nicotine flavored vaping products secured from the location. A second clerk, was also present during the execution of the search warrant. The investigation being conducted by the Rome Police Special Investigations Unit is ongoing and charges are pending at this time.
Community Express Market, located at 804 Floyd Avenue, was found to be selling illegal flavored nicotine vape products. Approximately 887 nicotine flavored vapes and other illegal products were seized from the location. Subsequent fines will be issued by the Oneida County Department of Health in regards to the nicotine flavored vaping products secured from the location. The investigation is being conducted by the Oneida County District Attorney’s Office and is ongoing at this time.
The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office, the Office of Cannabis Management, the NYSP VGNET, and the Oneida County Department of Health assisted in the operation.
