OLD FORGE- A driver accused of speeding twice the speed limit last Thursday in the Western Adirondacks is accused of unlicensed operation, authorities say.

Gregory D. Beal, 26, of Clinton, NY is officially charged by Town of Webb Police for aggravated unlicensed operation (second-degree); unlicensed operation and speeding.

Beal was allegedly clocked going 60-mph through a marked 30-mph zone in Old Forge on the night of June 29, Chief of Police Ron Johnston says.

Patrols say the traffic stop occurred on State Route 28. Investigation revealed Beal was driving on a suspended learner’s permit, police said.

He was issued with tickets, which are all returnable to Webb Town Court at a later date.
