LEWIS COUNTY- Drivers who frequently travel between Turin and Boonville are warned to beware, as Potters Corners intersection is now a complete four-way STOP.

We are waiting on further comment from the New York State DOT, but Sheriff Mike Carpinelli says he favors this adjustment for a corner that has had a dark history.
“I am grateful to the New York DOT for taking this on,” he told us.
This summer alone, police, firefighters and EMS have responded to a pair of pretty serious accidents at the intersection, including one that had multiple fatalities.
Through the years, Potters Corners has developed a grim history of other serious and fatal accidents.
Up until just recently, the intersection has been marked with a blinking yellow light for traffic heading North and South from Boonville and Turin, while a flashing red light has controlled traffic coming from both Constableville and Lyons Falls.
From here on out, all traffic will be met with a red blinking light.
With this abrupt change in routine, the Sheriff is especially concerned for frequent drivers to adjust to this new four-way stop.
He urges folks to always be alert and to especially pay strict attention whenever traveling through Potters Corners.
