Two charged with violating New York's Alcohol and Beverage Control laws in Lewis County, according to State Police

CONSTABLEVILLE & CROGHAN- A pair of local residents are accused of violating the state’s Alcohol and Beverage Control laws for allegedly serving alcoholic drinks to underage patrons, authorities say.

Sunit K. Gupta, 59, of Constableville, NY and an 18-year-old subject from Croghan, NY were arrested Tuesday morning by the New York State Police (Lowville). Both are formally charged with one misdemeanor count each of prohibited sale of an alcoholic beverage and unlawfully dealing with a child in the first-degree.

The charges against Gupta were filed in the village of Constableville, NY, while the charges for the 18-year-old were filed in the village of Croghan.

At press time, Troopers said an investigation was pending. Both suspects were issued with an appearance ticket.

There were no further details provided.

NOTE: The State Police listed the 18-year-old as a juvenile, meaning the suspect was eligible for a youthful offender status.
