LOWVILLE- Another update has surfaced amidst the ongoing investigation concerning the Lowville Village Police Department.
According to the latest developments from WWNY-TV, State Police officials requested and received paperwork from Lewis County’s STOP-DWI Program. “The state police asked me to provide them with paperwork,” Matthew Morrow told reporters. He serves as the county’s STOP-DWI Coordinator.
“I have provided them with everything that was requested.”
We made contact with Lowville Mayor Joseph Beagle Thursday and he had no comment available, citing the situation is still “an ongoing investigation.”
STOP-DWI is a state funded program to discourage drunk driving. The money, in turn, is dispersed to local police agencies. Officials say it’s used to pay for things such as extra police patrols.
On Thursday, it was reported that a source, who is familiar with the matter, said investigators were looking into evidence of possible “misappropriation” of money.
