TRENTON- A two-car personal injury wreck in Oneida County Thursday evening resulted in a DWI arrest for a woman, who is from out of state.

It was shortly before 7:00 p.m. when emergency responders were called out to reports of a wreck on State Route 365, town of Trenton.

Investigation via the Sheriff’s Office has resulted in the arrest of Shelia Kinard, 57, of West Columbia, South Carolina. She is officially charged with DWI, along with several other traffic violations.

Deputies say Kinard was heading east in a 2016 Nisan Rouge and collided with a 2014 Volkswagen Passat, reportedly driven by Mark Kirkland, 59, of Barneveld, NY.

Kirkland was subsequently taken to a Utica hospital for shoulder pain. Police said none of his injuries appeared to be life threatening.

Deputies have determined that Kinard was allegedly intoxicated at the time of the crash and is at fault for causing it.

She was taken in for centralized arraignment.

Members from Barneveld Fire Department and STaR Ambulance all provided assistance.
