UPDATE: North Country area resident busted after police pursuit

ST. LAWRENCE COUNTY- Authorities have brought several details to light concerning a local resident who was busted after a police pursuit in the North Country.

As originally reported last Friday, State Police arrested and charged Brian A. Deamer, 42, of Harrisville, NY for one felony count of burglary in the third-degree, along with one misdemeanor count each of possessing burglar tools and unlawfully fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle in the third-degree.

According to investigators, Troopers responded sometime around 3:40 a.m. last Thursday to a suspicious activity complaint at the Newtown Falls Papermill on County Route 60 in the town of Pitcairn.

Troopers arrived on scene and observed a 2004 Nissan Titan exiting the property near a large pile of scrap metal.

Troopers attempted to initiate a traffic stop; however, Deamer, the alleged suspect, failed to comply.

A pursuit was initiated and continued through the towns of Fine, Edwards, and Pitcairn before the vehicle came to a stop on Toothaker Road, a dead-end roadway.

Deamer was taken into custody without further incident.

Further investigation resulted in the recovery of multiple items of evidence from the scene.

Deamer was transported to SP Gouverneur, where he was processed.

He was arraigned in the Town of Pitcairn Court and released on his own recognizance.
