NORWAY- Investigators have unveiled an update regarding the animal abuse case in the Kuyahoora Valley.

As published Wednesday, Lorraine A. Rose, 60, of Newport, NY was arrested and charged by the New York State Police for five misdemeanor counts of overdriving, torturing and injuring animals; failure to provide proper sustenance.

Authorities were first notified on Tuesday, where investigators looked into complaints of animal hoarding/abuse.

After responding to 3403 Military Road, town of Norway, it’s reported that a search of the property revealed numerous goats, donkeys and cows not being properly cared for and all in “grave condition,” State Police said.

Rose, who resides in an unknown structure on the property, was trying to care for all these animals and became overwhelmed, investigation revealed.

A total of over 80 goats were all subsequently and voluntarily surrendered to Pause 4 All Paws Animal Rescue.

Authorities say the case is still pending.

State Police received assistance by the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation, Town of Norway Dog Control Officer, Newport Dog Control Officer and NYS Division of Animal Industry Field Veterinarian.
