FOR LEWIS AND JEFFERSON COUNTIES......WINTER STORM WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 AM EST FRIDAY... * WHAT...Heavy snow. Total Snow accumulations 5 to 10 inches. Snow will begin on the Tug Hill Plateau this evening. The greatest accumulations will be on the Tug Hill Plateau. Wind chills below zero are expected Thursday through Friday morning. * WHERE...Jefferson and Lewis Counties. * WHEN...Until 7 AM EST Friday. * IMPACTS...Travel will be difficult. The hazardous conditions will impact the Wednesday evening and Thursday morning commutes. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Widespread accumulating snow will create dangerous travel conditions. FOR ONEIDA COUNTY......WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY NOW IN EFFECT FROM 7 PM THIS EVENING TO 1 PM EST FRIDAY... * WHAT...Snow expected. Total snow accumulations between 4 and 8 inches. * WHERE...Madison, Northern Oneida, Onondaga, Southern Cayuga, and Southern Oneida Counties. * WHEN...From 7 PM this evening to 1 PM EST Friday. * IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact morning and evening commutes. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Rain will transition to snow tonight which could lead to wet surfaces becoming icy as temperatures fall below freezing. There is potential for locally heavy snowfall at times tonight that could lead to higher snowfall accumulation. The system that will bring the initial batch of snow will move out of the region tomorrow afternoon, with lake effect snow developing tomorrow evening. Additional lake effect snowfall accumulations are expected through Friday afternoon.
