Woodgate Fire Department receives 2022 FASNY Recruit New York Award

ONEIDA COUNTY- Woodgate Fire Department is this year’s recipient for FASNY Recruit New York.

According to Chief Anthony Sege, this annual honor New York’s Firefighters Association recognizes success in both recruitment and retention for members.

The award was officially announced Friday during Old Forge’s 55th Fire School.

Woodgate’s recruitment program consists of an open house event which includes lecture classes, hands on education on duties of a Firefighter, fire extinguisher use along with in home fire drill and education on escape routes.

The program is focused on engaging the community and making the community aware of what the volunteer service is about, including retention of existing members. This year alone Woodgate voted in 5 new members from the community.

Woodgate’s program is run throughout the year. But, is highlighted during the recruit New York weekend in April.
