WATSON- An electrical issue is to blame for a camp that was destroyed in a Wednesday blaze in Lewis County, emergency responders say.

It was shortly before 11:00 a.m. when 9-1-1 dispatchers received calls from 7533 Kotel Road, town of Watson.

Owner Keith Davoy told authorities that he was venturing out to his vehicle and noticed smoke coming from the camp, which was settled in about 500-feet off from the roadway with no access except for smaller recreational vehicles.

Lowville Fire Department was the primary responder. Firefighters arrived to a fully involved structure fire.

When all was said and done, it took about an hour for responders to douse the flames and another hour for overhaul operations.

New Bremen Fire Department provided mutual aid.

The year-round camp and all of its contents were destroyed, Fire Chief Joe Austin said. No injuries were reported.

The cause is blamed to be electrical in nature.

Insurance on the property was unknown as of press time.
