Floyd- Diane R. Hurley, 75, of Camroden Road, passed away at her residence on Thursday, September 12, 2024. 

Diane was born in Boonville, on May 11, 1949, a daughter of James and Virginia Uhlig Hurley.  She grew up in Forestport, where she was a member of the last class at Foresport High School, graduating with the Class of 1967.  Thereafter she was employed for Met Life Co. of Utica, before many years of employment for area convenience markets.  Later she was a care giver for her mother. 

Diane possessed a sense of adventure throughout her life.  In 1973, she drove a car in the demolition derby at the Boonville Oneida County Fair, becoming the first woman in Oneida Co. to participate in a demolition derby.  She was a self-taught musician, who played the guitar with a group of other musicians in a Forestport area band. 

Diane was of the Catholic faith.  In 1971, she joined the Forestport Fire Fighters, Inc., where she served for many years as a fireman and also was Bingo chairman for the fire department.  

She is survived by one brother, Patrick T. Hurley, Forestport; a sister in law, Judy Hurley, Forestport; nieces, Jennifer Hurley, Jessica Hurley and Shelly (John) Privett, all of Forestport; nephews, Trevor (Sara) Hurley and Matthew (Rena) Hurley, all of Florida and cousins.  Diane was predeceased by a brother, Michael Hurley, in 2010. 

Her Services will be on Monday, September 23, 2024, at 2:00 P.M., at Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St., Boonville, where Rev. Matthew Rawson, pastor of Christ Our Hope Catholic Parish of Boonville, Forestport and Otter Lake, will preside.  Visitation hours are also Monday from 12:00 Noon until the funeral, at the funeral home.   Interment will follow in the Floyd Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Rome, P.O. box 4572, Rome, NY 13440.
