WEBB- A contractor, who was a local to the area, is accused of taking money for a project and failing to complete any of the work in the Western Adirondacks, authorities say.
David N. Allen, 47, of South Carolina and formerly of Boonville, NY, was arrested last Wednesday during a scheduled court appearance in Little Falls, NY.
He is officially charged with felony grand larceny in the third-degree, along with a misdemeanor of scheming to defraud in the second-degree, according to Town of Webb Chief of Police Ron Johnston.
This isn't the first time Allen has been accused of stealing from a homeowner.
In July, 2022, he was arrested and charged by Town of Webb Police for taking $25,000 worth of payment checks for materials, for which he cashed but was accused of not purchasing needed materials for the project.
His latest arrest was executed in partnership between Town of Webb and Little Falls Police.
A warrant was issue for his arrest in late January after authorities investigated complaints last November, where a Town of Webb homeowner alleged that Allen took a pair of check deposits for a contracting job last spring and did not complete any of the work, nor did he produce any materials or re-pay the homeowner.
Lost funds in this case specifically exceeded over $14,000, police said.
During his court appearance, Allen was arraigned on the warrant and then released on his own recognizance.
