State Police provide update regarding felony sex offense arrest in Jefferson County

JEFFERSON COUNTY- Authorities have released an update pertaining to an arrest this week, which involved sex offense charges filed against a North Country man.

As previously reported, Cody R. Schirmer, 28, of Carthage, NY was arrested and charged Tuesday evening by the New York State Police with three felony counts of promoting a sexual performance by a child under 17 and two felony counts of possessing a sexual performance by a child.

According to investigators, Schirmer is accused of possessing and promoting images, which depict children performing sexual acts.

He was arraigned in Jefferson County CAP Court by Honorable Judge Neddo and was remanded to the Jefferson County Public Safety building in lieu of $5,000 cash bail.
