UTICA- The sixth corrections officer to be charged with murder in the fatal beating of an inmate at Marcy Correctional Facility in December appeared in Oneida County Court on Monday.

Nicholas Kieffer, 33, is being formally charged with murder, according to some of the latest updates from WKTV.

Five other corrections officers, who are also charged with murder, appeared in court last Thursday, while three others are being charged (at this time) with manslaughter, along with another guard being charged with tampering with evidence.

The investigation was sparked after Robert Brooks, a former inmate at Marcy Correctional Facility, passed away following a beating, while he was handcuffed.

Footage of the incident was all captured on body worn cameras.
